What I’m Making for Mother’s Day
6 recipes the whole family will love
Hello, happy Saturday!
Every Mother’s Day, we go to my parents’ house upstate for the weekend. It’s my mom’s happy place. She (and I) grew up going to my grandmother’s bungalow in the Catskills, and now my girls get to experience the area, too. I love being able to share my favorite places from childhood with them while they’re still little. Whenever we’re there, I cook—usually by just opening the fridge and seeing what they have. And obviously I’m bringing cupcakes for dessert! I’m also gifting cupcakes to all of my mom friends, who keep me sane. I truly cherish my relationships with them—they deserve to be celebrated every day.
Earlywood’s amazing wooden utensils would make a great gift for Mother’s/Father’s Day (whoever’s the cook in your family!). And they’ve hooked us up with a discount code! Use BAKED15 for 15% off your purchase starting tomorrow, May 5.
I got new shirts (some in white, some in heather grey) and a ton of you have been asking me about it on Instagram. I really like this style and this one.
I’m not normally someone who buys a lot of drinks, but I LOVE these mushroom elixirs that one of my team members got me hooked on (root beer is my go-to flavor). I drink them when I’m feeling low on energy and they make me feel so much better.
I went live on Amazon on Thursday to give a quick tour of my most-used kitchen tools. I’ll be doing more lives this month, what would you be interested in seeing?
Normally, when I cook at my parents’, I just open the fridge, see what they have, and make something delicious with it all. This normally includes a protein (my dad knows that a great ribeye is the key to my husband’s heart and filet mignon is the same for my girls), a potato side, and a salad. Here are a few ideas to get you started!
They’re crispy, they melt in your mouth, they come with a delicious dipping sauce. The potato trifecta.
I made this in my slaw era, when I really couldn’t imagine another slaw in my life. This one is also really good.
A goddess-inspired slaw with even more herbs, if you can believe it. For more salad recipes with fewer than 10 ingredients, I’ve got you covered.
Chicken & Ramps Meatballs with Ramp Pesto
It’s hard to go to the Catskills this time of year and not eat ramps! These are a delicious way to eat yours up.
Slow-simmered, tender meat like this is almost always on the menu in our house. (And these feel like such a treat.)
Low and slow is the name of the game for these tender ribs that scale easily for a crowd and bake in the oven.
