My kids started school on Thursday, and this year I’m all about keeping things simple. We’re making lunches the night before (right now my little one loves rotisserie chicken), not overbooking after-school activities, and I picked up a few thermoses so I can send them to school with warm lunches. Fall, here we come.
But let’s not rush it—summer produce is still at its peak. Today I’m sharing a few favorite recipes for this in-between season. And if you missed it, check out last week’s end-of-summer meal plan for even more ideas.
I’ve been trying out this mousse + gel combo on my curls lately and wow—it cuts my getting-ready time way down.
Also just got a Hulken and I’m so excited to take it with me to the market. Total game-changer.
I’ve been using Algae Oil for cooking—super high smoke point (535°F!) and they hooked me up with a code: MELISSA20 gets you 20% off.
We tie-dyed some tees the other day. (People always ask where I get my tees—I make them!) Here’s the kit I use + my fave shirts if you’re in the mood for a project.

Double Chocolate Zucchini Bread
My favorite lunchbox treat this time of year! Packed with seasonal zucchini and chocolate chips, it’s a win-win.
I used the rotisserie chicken leftover from lunches the other day to make an incredible soup. This is one of my go-tos (throw in chicken if you want, or make it totally vegetarian). Brush up on your soup skills now with this primer from last year.
The best veggie option for a late summer barbecue. No mystery ingredients, just bright green veggies and lots of flavor.
Make it as a snack, an app, or even for an unforgettable veggie sandwich. Pairs perfectly with your favorite sauce (tahini, hummus, and tzatziki are all great).
