Halloween is synonymous with fun kid activities and crafts (spider cookies!). It’s such a fun time to get together with friends and eat nostalgic desserts. I’ve already made my Halloween candy cookies twice this month (and it’s not even Halloween yet!), and the Monster Mash cupcakes are a huge family tradition.
We did a fundraiser with the PTO to make sure everyone in town got cupcakes and we’ll be passing them out at trunk-or-treat, too. (They’re no-nut flavors and so spooky/delicious.) I have pictures of my kids from every Halloween handing out cupcakes to their friends—even though we’re surrounded by candy, the cupcakes feel so incredibly special to everyone. It really makes the holiday, just like all the recipes I’m sharing below.

Earlywood!! Soup season is here and I love their wooden utensils, especially this for sautéeing. And they gave me a 10% off to share with you—use code MELISSA10 at checkout.
I just got nicer sneakers for events, so cute. (Before, I’d usually wear my boots or Hokas.)
I’ve been wearing tie-dye sweaters all week, this one is similar to the one I typically reach for. And my red flannel! It’s old from Free People, but here’s one that’s similar.
On Wednesday morning I did a cooking team with Weleda to celebrate 100 years of Skin Food. I love their products so much.
I got these bowls and my youngest is so excited to use them.

We make these when we get home from trick-or-treating every year. It’s the best tradition!

If you’re carving a pumpkin this weekend, save the seeds to make these. My tip: Let your kids put all the seeds in a bowl as they carve and pick out the pumpkin seeds from there. Rinse in a fine-mesh strainer to get the rest of the gunk off. (Don’t eat too many, you’ll get a stomachache.)
The pumpkin, orange, and fall spices are a great way to give your kids extra fun this time of year.
This recipe is a great way to get veggies into cakes this time of year. My kids love it.
I’ll be the first to tell you I’m not one of those obsessive pumpkin spice people, but this recipe almost changes my mind.
