I met Anne at the market before work today to get ingredients for content day. Going to the market fills my cup. The best-looking produce inspires the most delicious recipes, and we brainstorm what to make as we walk through the stalls. If you’re ever spending $16 on two tomatoes, now’s the time to do it.
I love visiting the market year-round, but especially in early summer. The spring veggies (asparagus, spring onions, and sugar snap peas) still look great, you can smell carrots from a distance, and summer produce starts to arrive. It’s also our favorite place to stock up on meat from local farms. If you’re new to market shopping, become a pro with my deep dive from last year!!
“Content Day” is what we call Thursdays. Every week, we meet in my kitchen and I film myself making food while Anne records the recipes across the counter. We try to do seven videos in a day—sometimes it’s spatchcock chicken and sometimes it’s as easy as tortilla pizza.
I’ve posted on social media every day since April 20, 2020 😅 It’s insane. There’s no way every single recipe I share can get equal love—some take over the internet and others…don’t. And some of those forgotten recipes deserve love, too!!
Today I’m revisiting a few of the forgotten summer recipes I love to add to your July 4th menus. They’re packed with summer veggies, so if you’re going out of town to celebrate, you have plenty of time to make them in the next few months. Here’s what's on the menu this week:

Orzo Pasta Salad with Tomato Vinaigrette
Corn & Tomato Summer Salad
Barbecue Party Slaw with Miso Vinaigrette
