Short Recipes for Long Days
& my rooftop garden tour
This is what my garden looked like when I started planting it last year:
And here’s a tour of my rooftop garden today:
What a difference a year makes, right? All the greens took time to bloom, but now the oregano comes back every year, the basil overflows, and I’ve figured out how to naturally keep all the aphids off my chives with marigolds and sage nearby. Nothing smells better than chopping freshly picked herbs. It’s truly my happy place—stay tuned for the tomatoes and peps.
While we’re on the topic of fresh produce, if you’ve been to the market lately, you’ll know that strawberries and asparagus are in peak form right now. It’s the perfect time to make this sponge cake if you haven’t already! And if you have my cookbook, make the Spring Grain Salad on pg. 124—it’s the perfect dish to make your favorite spring veg pop.
This weekend, put on your sunscreen and go outside to bask in the sunshine. Take a few of the below recipes with you to enjoy!
If you liked my travel duffle, you’ll love this beach bag—it fits SO MUCH and is SO CHEAP. Great for when you don’t want to spend a ton on a bag that will immediately get wet and filled with sand. (And perfect for stashing cupcakes as beach treats.)
For all you curly-haired girls, I’ve been loving this gel and mousse. I’ve been using it myself and on my little one—her curls love it!
We’ve been beading a lot lately since my kids are out of school. This is a great set to get you started!
I just got this throw for our bed this summer.
These lightweight bags are what I use for tomatoes and peppers in the video above.
I’ve been making my salmon using Geoffrey Zakarian’s method and my girls LOVE it. We had it for dinner on Thursday!
To make it even easier, leave out the tahini drizzle and almond topping. It’s the perfect summer snack/side/salad/all of the above.
The perfect dish to snack on while you cook or grill.
Tender, flavor-packed beets without turning on your oven.
The perfect party side when you don’t know whether to bring a salad or a dip. Bring both!
Inspired by the refreshing appetizer at Ippudo, this salad is the perfect refreshing start to a meal.

Love the content and been looking for a good nonstick pan. The link to Amazon needs to be fixed. 😀
