My POV on apps is that calling them apps makes them have less mass appeal. I love apps—but I call them snacks. Today I’m giving you recipes in the apps category that I make in my daily life, whether as a component in a meal or as a snack when someone is hungry. They’re great for stuffing in a pita with a little tahini, serving while watching the game, or setting out as guests arrive. Here are some of my faves.
And don’t forget—I shared my top hosting tips on Wednesday. Check it out and use it if you’re hosting Yom Kippur breakfast next week or bookmark it for the holidays. I’ve got you.

These are the products Jen uses to do my eyebrows for press appearances. I usually curl my hair for those, but I’m still letting my natural curls loose. (And since people are still asking, the gel and mousse are linked here.)
If you’re gearing up for cold-weather cooking, I can’t recommend this braiser enough. I use it almost every day.
Last week I was asked about my cutting board—it’s a custom Boos that was brought in on a forklift. Here’s a similar (much smaller!) one. (This size is my go-to for housewarming gifts.)
Wore this tee to an event the other night. It’s so comfortable.
We just opened a Baked by Melissa pop-up in Boston!! If you’re in the area, go say hi to our incredible team.
Here are a few brands that share the love with discount codes:

MELISSA20 - 20% off Algae Cooking Oil
The perfect app/side for fall. It’s so easy to make and packed with flavor. (Save leftovers for your pitas!!)
This hummus recipe is my go-to, and adding warm mushrooms on top is great for cooler weather. Serve with a drizzle of olive oil.
Fried Artichokes with Lemon-Dill Yogurt
This is a labor of love but SO worth it. To get the most out of every ‘choke, steam it, eat the leaves, then prune them off to fry the hearts.
These bright green peas are great as a side (eaten with a fork) or as an app (finger food!). Pairs well with dips or flying solo.
Looks impressive, but is so so easy to make. Just remember to top with herbs while it’s hot, so the aromatics bloom.
